How we handle your information at HelpfulAmiga.

Last updated: May 21, 2026

Overview

HelpfulAmiga ("we," "us," "our") is a concierge-style companion app for women going through cancer treatment. This policy describes what information we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and how you can control it. We keep things simple: we collect what we need to make the app work, and we do not sell your data.

What we collect

Account information: your name, email address, and sign-in credentials (via Google OAuth or email/password). Profile and intake data: what you share during onboarding and in settings, including your name, timezone, and information about the person you are caring for (cancer type, treatment phase, medications). Conversations: the messages you exchange with Amiga in the chat. Journal entries: mood logs and notes you choose to record. Appointments and reminders: dates, times, and titles you ask Amiga to track. Documents: files you upload (lab results, imaging reports, etc.). Usage data: basic analytics collected by Vercel (page views, performance metrics) with no personally identifiable information. Payment information: handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.

How we use your information

To provide the service: your conversations are sent to our AI provider (Anthropic) to generate Amiga's responses. Your profile and intake data personalize those responses. Appointments, reminders, and journal entries are stored so the app can display and act on them. To improve the product: we may review aggregated, anonymized usage patterns to improve the app. We do not read your individual conversations for this purpose. To communicate with you: we send transactional emails (welcome email, subscription confirmations) from [email protected] via Resend. We do not send marketing emails unless you opt in.

Third-party services

Anthropic (Claude): processes your chat messages to generate Amiga's responses. Anthropic does not train models on your data under our agreement. Stripe: handles all payment processing. We never see your full card number. Supabase: hosts our database and authentication. Data is stored in the US. Vercel: hosts the app and collects anonymous performance analytics. Microsoft Edge TTS: converts Amiga's text responses to speech. Only the text of Amiga's reply is sent; no personal data. Deepgram: transcribes your voice messages to text. Audio is processed in real time and not stored by Deepgram. Resend: delivers transactional emails. We do not share your data with any other third parties, and none of our providers use your data to train AI models.

Cookies and local storage

We use a small number of essential cookies: an authentication session cookie (managed by Supabase), a locale preference cookie (ha-locale) that stores your language choice (English or Spanish), and standard Vercel analytics cookies. We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or third-party analytics that follow you across websites.

Data retention

Your data is retained as long as your account is active. If your subscription lapses, your data remains stored and accessible if you resubscribe. If you delete your account, we remove your data from our active systems within 30 days. Backups may retain data for up to 90 days after deletion, after which it is permanently purged.

Your rights

You can request a copy of your data, ask us to correct inaccurate information, or delete your account at any time by emailing [email protected]. If you are in California, the EU, or another jurisdiction with specific privacy rights, you have additional rights under laws like the CCPA or GDPR. We will honor those rights regardless of where you live. We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Children

HelpfulAmiga is designed for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has created an account, please contact us and we will delete it.

Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data: encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), secure authentication, and access controls on our database. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect the information you trust us with.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the product evolves. If we make a material change, we will notify you in the app or by email before it takes effect. The date at the top of this page tells you when it was last revised.
